Year 11 Pastoral Care

In recent weeks our Year 11s have been active citizens, giving back to their community in small but significant ways.

In Week 4, six Year 11s visited the Red Cross Blood Donor Centre in Regent Arcade to give blood. This act of service has been a strong tradition in the Year 11 Pastoral Care Program over the last few years. It is great to see so many students excited and happy to contribute to Concordia’s Red25 team. Concordia is currently the third highest contributor to Red25 in South Australia.

In Week 6, 87 Year 11 students participated in the national study of adolescents’ use of tobacco, alcohol and other substances. The survey was conducted by the Cancer Council of South Australia and provides valuable data about the behaviour of young people around drugs and alcohol.

Well done to the Year 11s who are making valuable contributions to their society.

Senior Photography at the Royal Adelaide Show

This year we again have a number of students exhibiting photographic works at the Royal Adelaide Show in the Goyder Pavilion. The Concordia pieces are from students in our Year 10 Media and Year 11 & 12 Photography classes. Images by Concordia students can be identified by a red dot with the student's initials on the registration card.

If you are heading along to the Royal Adelaide Show, you may like to take the opportunity to browse the exhibition and see our students' work on display.

Paul Dillon Visit

Paul Dillon is no stranger to Concordia College. The Senior School students has the privilege of attending Paul's seminar on Monday 21 August.

Paul has been working in the area of drug education for the past 25 years and has been making a significant difference to our College community over the last eight years. Paul’s visits to a number of Lutheran schools began in 2010 as an initiative of the Lutheran Counsellor’s Network team. With support from the LSA and the blessing of our Principals, we have never looked back!

Through his own business, Drug and Alcohol Research and Training Australia (DARTA) Paul is contracted by many organisations to give regular updates on current drug and alcohol trends, and he continues to work with many school communities across the country to ensure that they have access to good quality information and best practice drug education.

The staff this year were also updated on the latest trends in drug education and we now look forward to Paul running another parent seminar in 2018.
