Long Tan Leadership and Teamwork Awards

The ADF Long Tan Youth Leadership and Teamwork Awards recognise students who demonstrate leadership and teamwork within both the school and the broader community, and who display strong values such as doing one’s best, respect for others and 'mateship', that are integral to Australian society.

The establishment of the ADF Long Tan Youth Leadership and Teamwork Awards is an important initiative by the Australian Government designed to encourage senior students, as tomorrow’s leaders, to actively participate in the life of their schools and local communities.

We were honoured to have Lieutenant Commander Alex Ward with us during a recent assembly to present the 2017 ADF Long Tan Youth Leadership and Teamwork Awards to Kenji 12ABR and Mikaela 10BCR. Kenji and Mikaela were recognised for how well they have demonstrated the spirit of Long Tan alongside their Concordia spirit in all they do.

Personal Project Exhibition

On Thursday 21 September, the Personal Project Exhibition was held in The Suaviter, showcasing the amazing products by the Year 10 students. This year saw a large variety of different projects, from a go-kart engine and a rebuilt lawnmower to uniforms for a restaurant, art designs, computer stands and gardening projects. It is truly wonderful to see students being able to showcase talents and interests that are very different from their core subject areas, but are always grounded in what they have learnt throughout the MYP. As always, the students completed these products to an exceptionally high standard, and it was great to see so many people come along to have a look at what they have created. We had many students come through during the day, including the Year 4s from the St John’s Campus and many Year 8s and 9s from the Concordia Campus. Once again, the Year 10s have set a very high standard for next year’s Personal Projects, but I know that we will be saying the same thing again next year!

Media Students Produce SAYTV

Media students have again been involved this year in producing a series of television episodes called South Australian Youth Television (SAYTV), to be shown on Channel 44. Through the show, young people have their say on a range of issues and this is a fantastic opportunity for our students to work on an episodic production and to have their work broadcast to the general public.

This season of the program will screen across six episodes, beginning on Thursday 12 October at 6.30pm. Each episode will also be replayed on Fridays at 7.30am, Mondays at 8am and Wednesdays at 4.30pm. At the end of the season, the cycle will repeat for those who missed the first run!
