Generations in Jazz 2016

The incredible talents of a significant number of Concordia’s musicians and singers were again on display recently at the annual ‘Generations in Jazz’ festival held in Mount Gambier, with our biggest group ever making the journey for the three day event.

This year Concordia sent 100 people to the national competition including three big bands, three choirs, ensemble directors, supervising teachers and two bus drivers.

Though the standard of the competition has risen each year, Concordia hasn’t missed a beat, earning some pleasing results again this year in various divisions of the competition.

As well as having the opportunity to travel and perform as part of a national competition, students and staff enjoyed inspirational performances by some giants of the Australian music industry including singer Kate Ceberano and iconic trumpeter James Morrison. After another fantastic weekend at this highly-regarded event, Concordia’s Music Department is no doubt looking forward with anticipation to Generations in Jazz 2017.
