Over two nights, the Stage 1 Drama and Dance classes presented Cassandra Fumi's abstract and expressionistic text, The Mermaid, to 100 audience members. The audience was transported under the ocean with handheld lighting, transformative staging and flowing costumes. Audiences remarked on the striking aesthetics of the performance and enjoyed the production's non-linear, emotive narrative, complemented with highly physical performances. A special thanks goes to all collaborators on this production: the student Tech Crew, students sewing costumes, student volunteer videographers and all who attended to support their peers.

This class will go on to present an excerpt of this production at the State Theatre Company's Young Theatremakers Awards in October, held at Flinders University's Drama Centre with schools from across South Australia.
