Old Concordian Flinders University Criminology Research Assistant Visits Stage 2 Legal Studies

31 July 2025

On Thursday of Week 8, Term 2, the Stage 2 Legal Studies class welcomed guest presenter Emma Brew-Bevan. Emma (Class of 2018) is a lecturer, PhD candidate and research assistant in Criminology at Flinders University. Emma spoke about her research regarding women serving time in custody, and how and why particular minority groups are over-represented in the criminal justice system. As the class has recently been learning about diverse groups and their access to justice, Emma's presentation was highly relevant. Emma also outlined types of criminology-related degrees and careers that were open to students following Year 12, and provided useful insights and suggestions for students researching criminal justice-related topics for their Inquiry. We are very appreciative of the time that Emma took to share her knowledge and experience with us.
