Stage 1 Dance students recently had the exciting opportunity to work with professional dancer and choreographer Tayla McDougall during two energetic Commercial Jazz workshops. Throughout the sessions, students were challenged to further develop their technical skills, performance quality and expressive capabilities within the Commercial Jazz genre.

In true industry style, students learned and rehearsed an entire Commercial Jazz routine in just three hours, experiencing the fast-paced expectations often placed on professional dancers. Working closely with Tayla, they explored new movement vocabulary, performance techniques, and the discipline required to quickly learn, retain and refine choreography.

The choreography created during these workshops formed part of an assessment and will also be showcased at the Dance Showcase in Term 4.
