On Friday 15 September, Concordia’s Chapel was transformed into a colourful concert venue, hosting the 2017 version of Concordia in Concert. Involving over 220 students and support staff, this special showcase featured no less than 23 ensembles, including Big Bands, String Ensembles, Concert Bands, small ensembles and choirs. There were many musical highlights across the evening, including the opening song “It’s a Living Thing” performed by the Orchestra, Senior Choir and Funk Band, Big Band 3s entirely choreographed renditions of “Happy” and “In a Mellow Tone”, guest artist Amber Watkins' performance with the Concert Band, the irrepressible Testosterphones crooning “More Than Words”, as well as our newest ensemble, The Jazz Collective. It was a thoroughly enjoyable night of entertainment.
My thanks to all those who supported and had input into this huge event. Equally, congratulations to all those who worked so hard in rehearsals and on the night, for showcasing your musical gifts.
