From the St John's Campus Principal

Paech MichaelA Heartfelt Thank You

Sometimes words cannot capture the sentiment surrounding experiences of which we are a part. In some ways this is how I feel about 2020. So many uncertainties, so many changes and so many different contexts for families and communities to navigate their way through.

As we approach the end of Term 3 the simple words that I want to say are….THANK YOU!

Thank you to students for the energy, enthusiasm and curiosity that you bring with you to school each day. We are blessed to have such a diverse and talented group of young people with whom to work.

Thank you to parents and caregivers for your support, encouragement, patience and understanding of the many restrictions and changes that have necessarily been implemented this year. We deeply value the partnership that we have with you, a partnership committed to bringing out the best in our students.

Finally, thank you to our staff for your dedication, amazing work ethic and ongoing care for our students. Your commitment to our Concordia community during this past term has been enormous and is appreciated.

I trust that you all enjoy a well-deserved break from the school routines and look forward to coming together again in two weeks as we commence our final term for 2020.

During the holidays, as a College, we will be revisiting the COVID-19 guidelines and associated protocols that we have in place here at Concordia. We are hopeful that we will see further easing of regulations and guidelines here in South Australia, that in turn will allow us to relax some of our College guidelines. Any updates in this regard will obviously be communicated our community early next term.

Year 6 Exhibition

This week the Year 6s shared their Exhibition journey with the school community. The exhibits were a culmination of their PYP journey where students inquired into a topic of passion and displayed this through artworks, installations, dance and interactive displays showcasing the student skill development and demonstration of learner attributes over the course of the unit.

The students provoked and encouraged their audience to take action in order to achieve the UN Global Goals through sharing informative and thought provoking presentations. The Year 6 community will have the opportunity to view these exhibits through an online presentation shared later this week.

Buddy Sharing

This term, the Reception and Year 1 students have been learning about non-fiction texts. To celebrate our learning, students were paired up to share some of their readers and non-fiction writing with a buddy. We have had lots of fun sharing our learning with each other!

Planning a move? Please let us know!

Considering a move to another school is a significant decision. We value your family and your being part of our Concordia community. As a College we will always seek to work with you to maintain your positive connection to our community. If you are uncertain about continuing at Concordia next year, in the first instance we invite you to reach out and arrange a time to discuss your situation with either of our Principals - Michael Paech (St John’s Campus) and Paul Weinert (Concordia Campus) - or our Director of Community Relations, Jodie Escott. We would hope that through this conversation we gain a clearer appreciation of your family's specific needs and considerations.

If you do make a decision to leave Concordia, please be aware that, in line with the Enrolment Policy - if your child is leaving Concordia College at the end of 2020, we require one full term’s notice to avoid penalties. We understand that this may not always be possible but sincerely appreciate your assistance with future planning. Withdrawal notification for 2020 should be received no later than close of business Friday 25 September 2020 and should be sent to the Principal of the relevant campus:
