Generations in Jazz 2018

A group of 86 Concordia students recently returned from a weekend of performances in Mount Gambier at this year’s Generations in Jazz festival, a nation-wide competition attended by over 5000 students and staff. As well as having the opportunity to draw inspiration from live performances by James Morrison, The Cat Empire and other high profile jazz artists, the students in Concordia’s bands, ensembles and choirs performed at a high level, representing the College with distinction once again at this unique event.

Involvement in ‘Generations’ provides valuable performance experiences for students and this year nine groups from Concordia took part in the event, with Big Band 1 earning 3rd place in Division 2. Two students also received individual accolades, with Ethan (Year 10) selected as a member of the Division 2 ‘Superband’ and Lily (Year 11) receiving the Ron Evans award as most promising vocalist in Division 2.

We were delighted with the way our students conducted themselves and commend each of them for their efforts as we look forward to next year’s festival with anticipation.
