Sporting success stories seemed to come in quick succession during Term 4 for Concordia volleyball, softball, cricket and tennis teams.
We congratulated our Senior A and Senior B girls volleyball teams on winning their respective grand finals in the IGSSA competition in mid-November. Soon after, we were delighted when Year 6 and 7 teams advanced to the School Sport SA knockout grand finals in softball, cricket and tennis.
The softball team won two games in the grand final round robin, leading them to play off for the gold medal in the final match, an exciting game with only one run separating the two sides at the start of the last innings. While the ultimate victory unfortunately did not eventuate, the girls approached the competition with positivity and enthusiasm, and were congratulated on winning the silver medal.
Similarly, the cricket team progressed to the gold medal state title game following a five-game winning streak in the knockout tournament. In perfect conditions, both teams displayed impressive batting and bowling skills, and there were some fantastic catches in the field. Although the final result didn't go our way, the boys are commended on their fantastic efforts in bringing home a silver medal.
Finally, after an outstanding effort across the knockout championship, the girls tennis team finished as runner-up in their grand final and received a silver medal.
We congratulate all students on their involvement and achievements this season, and we look forward to another exciting year of sport in 2020!
