Year 8 Family Social
One balmy Sunday afternoon in early November, around 60 Year 8 families gathered at the Prospect Petanque Club for some "getting to know one another". Interspersed between great conversations, an abundance of afternoon tea and a few drinks we tried our hand at Petanque. With expert coaching from our Petanque Club friends we learned that there is much more to throwing those little (but heavy) silver balls than meets the eye! There were several previously undiscovered expert throwers in the crowd and the competition became more serious as the afternoon went on ... evidenced from the increased shouting and cheering!
Our teenagers entertained themselves with tennis, basketball, soccer and generally hanging out (and eating) whilst their younger siblings had fun in the playground Year 8 Family Fun Parent Reps (and eating). It was a great venue and we were told by our new Petanque Club friends that we would be welcome back any time.
Thank you to all those families who attended and made the event a success. We're looking forward to continuing with our special events in 2016 and getting to know more parents and family members as our teenagers progress through Year 9.
