Celebrating Life Beyond the Classroom at Concordia

12 June 2025

Dear Concordia Campus Families

I wanted to take a moment to share some of the vibrant happenings around our campus. While those of us who are lucky enough to work here get to witness the incredible things our students achieve each day, I know many of you don’t always get to see this side of College life. While there is so much rich learning taking place in our classrooms, today I’d love to shine a light on some of the exciting things happening beyond them.

Making a Difference

Making a difference outside of the classroom is central to who we are as a Lutheran school. Encouraging our students to give back and contribute meaningfully to the world around them helps build a strong sense of social responsibility and shapes them into compassionate, global citizens.

Last week, we saw this beautifully expressed through the Salvos Sleepout. Our Student Leaders led the charge—planning, promoting and inspiring others to get involved. From brave staff members getting dunked in icy water, to students sleeping out in solidarity, together the community raised over $10,000 for a very worthy cause. We’re so proud of everyone who participated and supported this initiative with such heart.

Concordia – The Rite Journey 'Adventure' Camp

Our Year 9 students also recently embarked on their Rite Journey camp in the Flinders Ranges—an incredibly formative part of their development. Facing both personal and group challenges, including the solo experience, they showed remarkable grit, resilience and teamwork. These moments help shape their journey toward adulthood, and we’re proud of the strength and character they displayed.

Extra-Curricular Academic Competitions

There have also been some wonderful achievements in academic competitions that showcase our students’ creativity, critical thinking and courage:

  • Rostrum Voice of Youth: Out of 178 entrants across South Australia, four of our students delivered both prepared and impromptu speeches with poise and confidence. Two reached the semi-finals and we’re thrilled that Sophia (Year 9) has earned a spot in the four-person state final in June. What a fantastic accomplishment!
  • Brain Bee Challenge: A huge congratulations to our nine Year 10 students who qualified for the state finals after answering over 12,000 questions about the brain—an impressive demonstration of curiosity and dedication. We look forward to cheering them on in August.
  • da Vinci Decathlon: Competing across 10 academic disciplines, our two teams achieved exceptional results—bringing home five top-three placings and a first place. A brilliant effort that reflects not just talent, but collaboration and perseverance.

These moments remind us of the incredible breadth of learning, growth and spirit that fills our community. Thank you for your ongoing support—it’s a joy to celebrate these stories with you.
