Term 2, Week 72025

Eco Warriors, String and Band Programs, cross-cultural learning and more

12 June 2025

Dear St Peters Campus Families

It’s a pleasure to return to the St Peters Campus after my Long Service Leave earlier this term. Walking through our classrooms and outdoor spaces and witnessing the students so actively engaged in learning, discovery and connection is both a joy and a privilege.

Inquiry, Creativity, Imagination and Eco Warriors

A highlight this term has been the enthusiasm and curiosity students are bringing to their units of inquiry. Across the year levels, they are delving into big ideas—exploring the natural world through the lens of water, developing creativity and imagination, and systems of government. In the ELC, our young learners have taken on the role of Eco Warriors—taking responsibility for turning off lights, collecting scraps for the worm farm and ensuring taps are not left running.

Year 5/6 Specialist Lessons
at St John's Campus

Each week, our Year 5/6 students travel to the St John’s Campus to participate in their specialist lessons and make use of the outstanding facilities available there. From exploring the world of STEM to playing badminton in the Fortiter Gym, these experiences offer rich opportunities for challenge, connection and empowerment. Engaging in learning beyond their usual environment helps to build confidence, independence and adaptability—key skills as they prepare for the transition to Middle School in the near future.

Year 2 Strings and Year 4 Band

Our Music program is in full swing for Term 2, with the Year 2 Strings and Year 4 Band programs underway. Both cohorts are preparing to showcase their developing skills at the end of term. It’s been inspiring to see the persistence and determination with which they are learning their new instruments.

A Passion for
Cross-cultural Learning

This year, Chinese has been introduced at St Peters, and students are embracing the challenge with enthusiasm. The Year 5/6 students are preparing for a cultural excursion, which includes a kung fu lesson at a dojo followed by a Chinatown experience including lunch. Meanwhile, our Reception and Year 1 classes are enjoying their weekly WOW (Wonders of the World) sessions with Ms Wilson, discovering how children across the globe share common experiences, values, and understandings. Each student has received their own passport and has already "travelled" to Germany and Vietnam!

Developing Student Leaders

A special acknowledgment goes to our Year 6 leaders, who have taken on their roles with maturity and dedication. In Week 5, they presented to the Concordia College Board, sharing insights into their leadership roles and responsibilities. Their presentation was engaging, thoughtful, and well delivered. They also enjoyed a lovely two-course meal with the Board and College Leaders at The Suaviter.

Our Year 2, 3 and 4 students recently visited the Marine Discovery Centre, and the ELC children are excited about their upcoming excursion to Wittunga Botanic Gardens. These experiences are an important part of our holistic approach to education—fostering growth, independence and deeper connections with the natural world. They are moments students cherish and remember for years to come.

Kind regards
