'Every Learner' Focus, Program Enhancements and Positive Literacy/Numeracy Outcomes

6 Aug 2025

Dear St John's Campus Families

The intent of the College’s current strategic plan is to strengthen the learning and wellbeing outcomes of all our students, through a focus on consistently embedding specific teaching practices.

Since commencing my role as St John’s Campus Principal in 2024, our highly talented and committed ELC to Year 6 staff have prioritised this strategy through a focus on ‘Every Learner’ in our community. Through a combination of staff professional learning, and feedback from community stakeholder groups, including our children, we have been working hard to strengthen our educational programs, resources and practices, to be more responsive to the strengths, interests and specific needs of each learner.

As part of our ‘Every Learner’ focus, we have:

  • Introduced targeted Junior (Reception–Year 3) and Upper (Years 4–6) Primary leadership roles, to provide more specific learning and wellbeing support for our students in these phases
  • Strengthened our ‘personalised learning’ approaches for our ELC children, especially in supporting their transition to our reception program
  • Commenced implementing more targeted literacy and numeracy intervention programs across Reception to Year 6
  • Increased the level of Co-Educator (in-class) support for our students
  • Introduced more enrichment opportunities for students, especially in the areas of Mathematics, English and STEM.

Analysis of our students' Semester 1 achievement grades, 2025 NAPLAN results, and growth in literacy and numeracy intervention programs shows that recent changes are making a strong impact. These improvements are positively influencing student achievement and learning progress.

We are highly committed to continuing this 'Every Learner' focus, and I look forward to sharing with our St John's Campus community further developments in this area later in the year.

Kind regards
