Last Friday, a group of 30 students from Years 7-10 attended the Once Upon a Festival – a literary festival for students. During the day they participated in workshops and attended talks presented by leading Australian authors and visual storytellers, including Aska, Will Kostakis, Miranda Luby, Amie Kaufman, Karen Ginnane, Mike Lucas, Nova Weetman, Astrid Scholte and Joel McKerrow.
The presenters all encouraged students to undertake their own creative pursuits and shared how each of them have overcome their own insecurities and “imposter syndrome”. Students were reassured that we are all continually in a process of growing and improving. The first draft always needs work, but the creative process and persistence is worth the effort.
