CARE @ CC - Community of Advocates for Respect and Empathy

CARE @ CC is an extra-curricular lunchtime group to connect like-minded students (Years 10–12) who are interested in pursuing a career in medical-related fields. In our group we explore the 'stories' of health. The idea is that by listening to people telling their story, students will gain greater empathy and respect as a future medical professional.

A snapshot of our learning this term:

  • a GP who shared his experiences of over 45 years of caring for others
  • a nurse specialising in fractures at Flinders Medical Centre
  • a focus on motor neurone disease
  • a third-year medical student – reflecting on the journey to becoming a doctor.

Do you work in a health-related field – medicine / nursing / paramedicine / health research? Would you be willing to come and share your experiences during a lunch time session (1:00pm – 1:55pm) sometime in the future? We would love to have you visit. Please contact Emma Rieger for more information.
