Q&A with Scott Jasper, Library Technician

1. Where were you before this and what persuaded you to join Concordia?

My library placement when I was studying to be a Library Technician was on the St John’s Campus with Jane and Nolene. After one of my children started at the Senior School and two at the St Peters Campus, it was perfect for me to get a job at both.

2. Three words to describe you.

Creative, passionate, focused.

3. What motivates/inspires you in your role?

I have a passion for children’s literacy. From the moment my eldest daughter was learning to read, I knew I wanted to work around children’s books. I am a bibliophile. My favourite author is Brandon Sanderson.

4. If you had a superpower, what would it be?

I’m not much of a superhero guy. I read mostly fantasy. Brandon Sanderson is my favourite author, and he is known for writing good magic systems. I would want to be Mistborn from Mistborn or a lightweaver from the Stormlight Archive.

5. Who would you invite to a dinner party of six guests and why? Alternatively, tell us something you might like to share that we could not possibly know?

I guess something that many people wouldn’t know is that I have had lots of different careers before I started working in a library. I have a degree in Psychological Science. I worked as a property manager. I was a battery salesman for nine years! I have done many different things.
