On Wednesday 28 February our swimming team hopped on a bus and travelled to the SA aquatic centre to participate against other nine other schools in the SSSA swimming championships.
Starting the day off strong with wins in the first two races, our team excelled in the freestyle and butterfly placing in many of the races and achieving times that enable swimmers to qualify for the Long Course State Championships next weekend. The individual events for the day finished with 100m freestyle where we finished first, second, third and fifth in respective races. The day finished with relays where we brought home another strong win in the Open boys' medley. By the end, we had finished seventh in the girls' competition, sixth in the boys' competition and sixth out of 10 schools overall. After just being moved up a division this was a great result and all swimmers should be proud of their efforts.
A special mention must go to those swimmers who helped bolster our squad and fill out individual events and relays. Finally, a huge thanks to the Year 10 students who supported the team and filled our allocated positions as timekeepers. The day wouldn’t have been possible with the organisational prowess of Mrs Greig and the elite coaching of Hao and Louisa.
