AHOMINGS

On Wednesday 6 March, we had the privilege of representing Concordia at the initial meeting of the Association of Heads of Music in Non-Government Schools (AHOMINGS) for the year, held at Loreto College. All student representatives attended two workshops with multi-instrumentalist and composer Adam Page. Adam shared his passion for looping with us and led a small improvisation session with everyone and their instruments. Following this, we sat down and asked Adam questions about entering the music industry. We received amazing advice about how to get your name out there as a young musician, organise gigs, the importance of having a strong foundation in technical work and how to strengthen one’s motivation. At the conclusion of the day, students, music administrators and directors came together to share what they discussed during their sessions. This was an incredible opportunity to connect with other leaders who share a strong passion for music and are seeking to further enhance their school music department.
