On Thursday 15 May, our Open Boys competed in the Knockout Football competition against Nazareth and Unley, at Unley High School. A slightly overcast day made conditions perfect for football, and our boys were pumped. We had a slow start in our first game, against Nazareth, only kicking one goal to their five by quarter time. The nerves settled in and the boys played a much better brand of footy after that. We finished the game two goals ahead, thanks to a five-goal final quarter. Jack (12CRID) was a stand-out after half time, kicking seven goals for the match.
With only a 15-minute turnaround between our games, it was straight back into our second game, this time against Unley High School. Once again, we started slowly and were goalless at half time, with Unley kicking six goals. We outscored them in the second half, but it wasn’t enough.
The boys were fantastic in both games, playing solid football and working really well together as a team. Their attitude and effort, particularly when they were down, reflected true Concordia values.
