In Week 2, the St Peters Campus Reception students embarked on a thrilling adventure to the DreamBig Festival, a celebration of creativity and storytelling. The day was filled with awe and inspiration as they experienced two captivating performances that sparked their curiosity and imagination.
The first performance, Glow and Tell, blended storytelling, lights and drawing to create an immersive artistic experience. The children were mesmerised by the way light and shadows brought stories to life, igniting their own creative ideas. Following this, they enjoyed Imagine, a heartwarming play based on Alison Lester’s beloved book. The performance transported them to a world of possibility, reinforcing the power of imagination in shaping experiences and stories.
Between these wonderful performances, the students embarked on a Scavenger Hunt, exploring the Festival and Riverfront precinct. This adventure encouraged them to observe, discover and engage with their surroundings in a new and exciting way.
The visit to DreamBig Festival was an incredible provocation for our ‘How We Express Ourselves’ Unit of Inquiry, where we are exploring the concept of imagination. Through these experiences, the children embraced creativity, storytelling and the joy of discovering new worlds. We can’t wait to see how their imaginations continue to flourish as they reflect on and apply these learnings in the classroom!
