On Tuesday of Week 2, the Cookery in Hospitality students spent the day at Tasting Australia with top Adelaide chef Emma McCaskill, who runs our VET course. The morning began with a scavenger hunt through the Central Market, where students met local producers and learned more about South Australia's food scene. They were treated to lunch by Kirby Shearing from Mount Gambier’s Elementary by Soul Co., who showcased regional hospitality at its best. This year’s festival curator, Kane Pollard, also gave the class a behind-the-scenes tour. As a long-time Tasting Australia organiser and one of this year’s featured stars, Emma helped guide students through the experience while sharing stories and insights from her industry background. Students came away with full stomachs and a better understanding of what’s possible in the food and hospitality industry.
