As a newcomer to the Concordia College community, I have had the unique opportunity to observe and experience the heart of what makes our College so special—its people. From the moment I stepped through the gates, I was struck by the genuine warmth, professionalism and student-centred approach that defines the culture.
One of the most exciting aspects of my early experience has been the chance to work across all three of our campuses. While each campus has its own unique setting and atmosphere, they are united by a shared commitment to student success, wellbeing and a strong foundation of faith.
What has impressed me most is the unwavering dedication of both teaching and College operations staff. Across every campus, there is a consistent sense of purpose and pride in the work being done. Whether in the classroom, in operational support roles or in leadership, staff are clearly invested in creating a thriving, inclusive environment for every student.
I’ve felt genuinely welcomed by colleagues from day one. Teachers have kindly invited me into their classrooms, offering a front-row seat to the engaging, student-centred learning experiences they create every day. The level of care and thought they put into their teaching is obvious—and inspiring.
Beyond the classroom, the inclusive and collaborative spirit continues. I was honoured to be invited to sit on a business panel for Year 5 students—an experience that highlighted the school’s commitment to real-world learning, entrepreneurship and student voice. I’ve also had the opportunity to join team meetings, where it’s clear that open communication, shared learning and support for one another are deeply valued.
What’s clear to me is that this is a school community where every staff member plays an essential role in shaping a positive and dynamic environment for students. The passion for education and the genuine care for each student’s development shine through in the everyday work performed throughout the College.
I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of this wonderful team and I am excited about what lies ahead.
