This year was the 25th anniversary of National Simultaneous Storytime, an annual literature event in Australian libraries.
The story chosen for this event was ‘The Truck Cat’, a story about Tinka the cat and Yacoub a truck driver, who are constant companions until they are separated. This is a beautiful story about belonging, friendship and home.
At St John’s Campus, the story was shared during Junior Primary borrowing times in the library throughout Week 4. Students also participated in an activity related to the book.
Some students brought in toy trucks and cats to add to the display in the library, together with the large cardboard cut-out truck.
A photobooth opportunity for students was organised, where students had their photo taken with a stuffed cat, looking like they were sitting in a truck!
