Year 7/8 Knockout Basketball

5 June 2025

The Year 7/8 boys' and girls' Knockout Basketball teams travelled to St Francis de Sales, Mount Barker, where they played two games in order to advance to the crossover stage. Both teams faced Tennison Woods in the first game and Modbury in the second game.

The boys lost the first game to a tough Tennison Woods team, but bounced back very well in the second. After a close contest, Modbury just pulled away at the end to win by 10 points.

The boys then played a fifth/sixth playoff against St Francis de Sales. Despite St Francis jumping out to a 12-point halftime lead, Concordia fought back and managed to tie the game in the final minute. With five seconds left on the clock, Concordia secured a rebound and scored a buzzer-beater to win the game by two points.

The girls cruised through their first two games, winning by an average of 25 points. It was a well-rounded offensive effort, with everyone contributing.

The girls advanced to the crossover, where they played last year's Year 7/8 Knockout winners, Sacred Heart. It was an incredibly tough game, but Concordia hung in. Going into the last quarter, they were down by eight points, but made a big run to bring the game within one point with two minutes left. Unfortunately, Sacred Heart proved too tough and finished as five-point winners. An amazing effort by the girls!
