Legacy Junior Public Speaking Award

We are proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of two of our Year 9 students who recently represented Concordia at the Legacy Public Speaking Award, in two heats. This prestigious national competition highlights the vital work of the Legacy organisation, which supports more than 30,000 families of veterans. With the help of over 3,000 dedicated volunteers, Legacy ensures that those in their care are empowered to live meaningful and supported lives.

Participants in the award are invited to speak on one of Legacy’s core ideals. Eva (9ALAM) delivered a thoughtful and moving speech on the importance of care, compassion and connection, while Sophia (9ALAM) explored the profound impact of voluntary service. Both students spoke with confidence, clarity and conviction, impressing the adjudicators with their insight and maturity. We are thrilled to share that Sophia has been selected to compete in the South Australian State Final in September.

Well done to both Eva and Sophia on their inspiring efforts!

26 Book Challenge

Students who are participating in this year’s challenge are reminded to visit the library to receive passport stamps as they complete books from specific categories. While there, check out the incredible library displays to support the challenge. Stock up on books for your school holiday reading. Passports will be due in Term 4, Week 5. Read more details here.

National Youth Science Forum STEM Hub (NYSF) for Students Year 10–12

Many Concordia students choose to pursue careers in the STEM field beyond school. Registrations are now open for the National Youth Science STEM Hub in Adelaide (14–18 July). A STEM Hub is a non-residential STEM experience where you can connect with STEM pathways and careers. Students gain exclusive behind-the-scenes experiences typically inaccessible to the public and connect with STEM professionals—a crucial networking opportunity for their future. Whether students are passionate about robotics, biomedicine, astronomy, biology or anything in between, STEM Hubs can show students what a STEM career is really like!

Participants can:

  • participate in tours of science and technology facilities
  • learn about cutting-edge research
  • engage with industry partners and research providers
  • learn about university, training and STEM career pathways
  • mix with other like-minded students
  • attend social activities.

There is a program fee of $50. Click here to register.
