As we approach the mid-point of the year, it is a wonderful time to pause and reflect on the learning, growth and progress taking place across Concordia College. From the classroom to the community, our students are engaging in meaningful and relevant learning experiences, while our dedicated staff continue to innovate and collaborate to support the educational growth of every learner. We are excited to share some of the highlights and milestones from recent months— as we work towards our shared vision for a thriving and future-focused learning community.
Strategic goals
A strategic goal across all three campuses is the development of signature experiences. Signature experiences are distinctive, high-impact learning opportunities or programs that reflect the unique identity, values and educational philosophy of each campus. Signature experiences are intentionally designed to leave a lasting impression on students. At the St Peters Campus, we are currently trialing units in Year 2/3 and ELC that are based on service and sustainability. These signature experiences will be rolled out across all year levels in 2026.
At Concordia Campus, we have introduced a range of new subjects this year, with the restructure of Year 10 into Senior School. Students have individualised pathways, ensuring they are preparing for their future beyond secondary school. These pathways often include learning outside of the ‘classroom’, such as vocational education, university study and other recognised learning.
At St John’s Campus, our focus for 2025 is to design learning experiences that reflect the wonderings, needs and strengths of our students. During Term 2, our staff have created new and unique learning experiences that stretch and engage students in their interests and passions, including:
- Introduction of an extra-curricular LEGO engineering club
- Introduction of a Year 2 Strings Music program
- Growth in the offerings of our Sports program
- Student-led sustainability initiative focused on recycling and composting
- Year 5 business and entrepreneurial learning experiences
Recent Achievements
At Concordia Campus, two da Vinci Decathlon teams (Year 7 and Year 9) competed against 24 schools throughout the competition. The standard is extremely high. Often students are completing tasks several years above their chronological year level. Our teams represented us with pride, gaining exceptional results across a wide range of subjects.
Our teams had eight top five places across seven of the disciplines, demonstrating their broad range and depth of knowledge application.
Student leaders across the College, recently led a service initiative in support of the “Salvos Sleepout”, raising over $10,000 for charity, and of course ensuring many teachers were ‘dunked’ with freezing water at lunchtime. Service-learning opportunities at Concordia teach students about different needs of others in our world, and our call as Christians to serve them.
As we move into Term 3, we look forward to continuing to provide experiences that support the holistic development of our amazing students, all from ELC to Year 12.
