In Week 5, our Year 1 and Year 2 students were treated to a magical live performance of The Frog Prince, presented by State Opera South Australia. This exciting opportunity immersed students in the wonder of theatre, as they watched talented performers bring a creative and modern twist to the classic fairytale.
The performance beautifully connected with our current Units of Inquiry, exploring themes of sustainability, caring for the planet, and the importance of animals, recycling and reusing. Students were captivated by the story and its meaningful messages, while also enjoying plenty of laughter and music along the way.
Here’s what some of our students had to say:
“The funniest part was when the frog took a selfie and said he didn’t know his nostrils looked so big!” – Vivienne
“The best part was when the frog and the girl were falling down the drain into the sewer.” – Oliver and Edward
“I liked when they changed characters and turned into the ‘cool kids’ at school. They were so funny!” – Ariana
“My favourite character was the Frog Prince because he stood up to the bully.” – Charlotte
“I liked the part in the story when the girl lost her phone, and the frog said he’d help her find it. But after her whole adventure with the frogs, she actually forgot all about her phone because she was making friends.” – Veronica
“I loved the singing. It was so nice.” – Florence
“I loved everything!” – Parki and Margo
“The story has so many funny parts, like when the people acting were pretending to do flips” – Thomas and Theo
This performance sparked imagination, joy and thoughtful connections to their classroom learning—a wonderful reminder of the power of the performing arts.
