Year 9 Restless Dance Theatre

19 June 2025

During Week 8, Year 9 Dance students had the enriching opportunity to visit Restless Dance Theatre, Australia’s leading disability-led dance company, in the Adelaide CBD. Students attended a performance of Seeing Through Darkness, an evocative and powerful work inspired by the art of Georges Rouault.

Following the performance, students participated in a dynamic workshop led by Artistic Director Michelle Ryan and Artistic Associate Larissa McGowan. They learned a section of choreography from the production and had the unique opportunity to dance alongside and connect with members of the company. Students also explored movement creation using words and images as stimuli, which inspired their own creative responses.

It was a deeply inspiring experience that challenged perceptions, encouraged empathy and highlighted the power of inclusive practice in the Arts.
