This term the four-year-old children from St Peters Campus and St John's Campus Early Learning Centres came together for a very special excursion to Belair National Park. Children, staff and parents all came together to share in a day of play, discovery and connection in the beauty of nature.
The park provided a perfect backdrop for exploration. The children enjoyed climbing over trees and rocks, running through wide open spaces, and searching for treasures such as leaves, sticks and feathers. Some children worked together to build imaginative cubbies from branches, while others tested their balance on fallen logs or discovered insects hiding beneath stones. Parents and educators were right alongside them, encouraging curiosity, celebrating discoveries and sharing in the joy of learning outdoors.
It was wonderful to see friendships forming not only between the children, but also between families and staff from both centres. Shared picnics gave everyone the chance to slow down and connect, while the natural environment inspired conversations and laughter.
This excursion reminded us of the rich learning that happens when children are given time and space in nature. They practised teamwork, problem solving and creativity, all while developing a deeper appreciation for the world around them.
We are so grateful to the families who joined us and helped make the day a success. Together, we created lasting memories and strengthened the sense of community that lies at the heart of our Early Learning Centres.
