Concordia is a school that seeks to develop students to their full potential. Living our lives as God intended brings glory to him and blessing to others. This means, to borrow language from Scripture, that we seek to utilise and develop everything we have been given: our heart, soul, mind and strength. We don’t want to be people of just one or even two dimensions. A life fully lived will feature heart, soul, mind and strength, and we hope to develop all of these areas through a broad curriculum across a student’s time at our school.

When Jesus was once asked what the most important commandment was in all Scripture, he answered, “The most important one is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:29-31)

Jesus knows that we were designed to receive love from him, then to return it, both to him and to other people made in God’s image. A life lived to the full will be in relationship with the One who made us, where we develop the gifts and capabilities he has given us to be a blessing to others.

This term, we hope to grow in our understanding of what it means to be a human being fully alive, as we use all of our passions, skills, creativity, cognitive power, physical and emotional strength to look outward, not inward. May God bless us in this and, in so doing, reveal more of his goodness to us.
