Marty McBubble Visits St John’s Campus ELC

As a provocation for our 'How the World Works' Unit of Inquiry, St John's Campus ELC children were fortunate to experience a scientific bubble show performed by Marty McBubble (aka Graeme Denton, owner of Bright Spark Entertainment).

The children watched in awe as Marty created bubbles of all shapes and sizes. He described them using their properties and three-dimensional shape names, sphere and cube. He explored scientific concepts about gases, liquids, gravity and how light interacts with materials. Marty posed questions such as: ‘What are bubbles made from?’, ‘Which direction do they go?’ and ‘What shapes are bubbles?’. These questions inspired children’s thinking and curiosity. Language development also occurred with the introduction of new words such as transparent, opaque, flexible and prediction.

The show was a great success and ended with the children being invited to step into a gigantic bubble.

The children were thoroughly engaged, and their enthusiasm and curiosity were certainly sparked!
