On Saturday 2 August our five Concordia Pedal Prix teams competed in the eight-hour race at Tailem Bend against 199 teams from around Australia. Tailem Bend provided perfect weather for racing, allowing all our teams to perform at their best on the longer 3.41km track.
With our teams missing multiple riders due to illness, students showed amazing grit and determination to back up two strong rides each for the day. With limited mechanical issues, riders performed consistent lap times with improved pit changeovers.
Our Senior A team, Costa, performed strongly throughout the day, staying in touch with the top teams. In fourth position with 45 minutes to go, our last rider was able to chase down third position leading by 90 seconds. This has cemented their series third position for the season ahead of the final round.
Our Middle A team also performed well, staying in touch of a top five placing throughout the race all day, but were unable to hang on in the final 30 minutes.
Overall, it was a highly successful day of racing with a lot fun had by all involved.
A big thank you to all our parents and staff who assisted across the day and in lead up to the event. We look forward to our final race of the year at Murray Bridge where we race for 24 hours at the end of Week 9.
