Oliphant Science Awards Presentation

It was wonderful to see Concordia very well represented at the Oliphant Science Awards presentation evening on Friday, where prize placings were announced. This year participation was strong with 145 schools involved and 4,099 student registrations across over 3,000 projects.

At the Concordia Campus we congratulate:

  • Laura (11RGOG), who won first prize in the Year 11/12 Multimedia section
  • Oliver (10BWHA), who won third place in the Programming, Apps and Robotics (Year 9–10) section.
  • Oliver (8DGAL) and Benjamin (8DGAL) (Highly commended for their model)

Overall, students from Concordia’s three campuses won nine prizes and five were highly commended. A special congratulations to Year 3 student Jayden, who achieved second place in the prestigious Department for Education Young Scientist Award. This is one of the most prestigious awards at the event.

Year 7/8 Interschool Fantasy Map and Writing Competition

Congratulations to Jimmy (7VPER), who won the Year 7 writing section of this inaugural competition hosted at Concordia. This will become an annual competition for students in Years 7 and 8. This year the participating schools included Wilderness, St Michael’s College and Concordia College. Students demonstrated outstanding creativity through their detailed fantasy maps and vivid writing, skilfully capturing the settings and characters of their imagined worlds. Congratulations to all who took part!

26 Book Challenge

As we enter Term 4 we have a few weeks left of reading for our 26 Book Challenge. Students will need to submit their stamped passports to the library by Friday of Week 5 (14 November). Our readers will then receive a boarding pass to join our 'Celebration flight' to be held on Monday of Week 7 (24 November) in The Suaviter at lunchtime.

For students still completing categories in the challenge, Karen from the Library and Anja from our Book Council have prepared mystery book bags ready to borrow! Simply find the category you haven’t read yet, grab a mystery bag that matches it, and enjoy the surprise reading adventure inside.

CARE@CC

This week we welcomed Erin Fawcett, who shared a talk about Pharmacy: More than a degree. Erin, a fourth-year pharmacy student, captivated our students with stories of her enriching daily interactions in pharmacy, opportunities for national and international travel, active involvement in professional associations, and the excitement of contributing to vital medical research. Her warmth and passion for the health profession left everyone inspired.
If you work in, or are studying towards a medical-related career, we would warmly welcome you as a guest speaker at our lunchtime CARE@CC student group. Planning for 2026 is underway!
