The Year 10 German class had the opportunity to undertake a new topic in Term 3 this year called 'Unternehmen Deutsch'. This unit, organised by the Goethe Institut, involves learning about German companies and business, specifically those which also operate within Australia. Students were able to interview a representative from their chosen company and then in groups create a product or an advertising slogan. There was also a chance to win cash prizes! Our groups were involved with a German artist living and working in the Blue Mountains, and with the well-known company Miele.

While students are still finalising their entries for the competition, Miele invited us to visit their showroom in Mile End. They gave us demonstrations of their appliances and services, made us coffees and hot chocolates, and provided an amazing morning tea and lunch, cooked in their own kitchens, using the fanciest of ovens.
