Child Studies Class Serves Nutritious Lunches for Year 2s

As part of their summative assessment, the Year 10 Child Studies students designed and prepared a range of nutritious lunchbox food products for our Year 2 students. This engaging task encouraged them to explore the importance of a balanced diet in supporting children’s growth and development, while also researching healthy eating habits and creative ways to make nutritious foods more appealing to young children. The Year 2 students thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the overall experience.

Working collaboratively, each group developed an action plan aligned with Area of Study 1: The Nature of Childhood and the Socialisation and Development of Children. Their plans addressed the specific nutritional needs of young children, taking into account portion size, dietary guidelines, texture, taste and individual dietary considerations. Students thoughtfully documented their decisions and allocated responsibilities within their groups to ensure a successful and well-coordinated outcome.
