St John’s Campus ELC Explores the Community

On Thursday 27 November, the children from Room 1 in the ELC enjoyed an exciting bus excursion exploring our local community. This experience supported our current Unit of Inquiry, which focuses on the roles and responsibilities people have within our community.

The children were very excited as they boarded the bus and handed over their ‘ticket’. The trip was filled with lots of chatter and wonder. As we travelled, the children observed a wide range of familiar and important community services. We passed shopping centres, fire stations, libraries, other schools, doctor’s offices, the post office and much more.

This excursion provided a valuable opportunity for the children to make real-world connections to their learning and deepen their understanding of how communities function as well as the people who help make them safe and supportive places.
