In the interest of avoiding unnecessary consumption, waste or adding to landfill, we are hoping that our community can help us to create a craft/sewing kit for backstage repairs of costumes during musical production week.

If you have any of the items listed below at home that you are willing to donate, we will gratefully accept them. Please do not purchase items for this purpose—we are happy to source any additional items required. Instead, please think of it as a decluttering opportunity.

Items Required

• Sewing kit/tool box: We are looking for one or two large portable boxes/trolleys that have various compartments/pockets for storage (see examples here and here)
• Sewing and fast repairs:
  • Needles – various sizes
    
  • Thread spools of various colours
  • Safety pins (small, medium, large)
  • Mini scissors / thread snips
  • Thimble
  • Seam ripper
  • Measuring tape
  • Pin cushion / magnetic pin holder
  • Pins
  • Chalk

• No-sew quick fixes:
  • Fashion tape / double-sided tape
  • Clear medical tape (skin-safe)
  • Fabric glue (quick-dry)
  • Iron-on hemming tape
  • Velcro dots / strips
  • Hot glue gun + glue sticks

• Costume care and spares:
  • Lint rollers
  • Baby wipes / stain wipes
  • Small towel / cloth
  • Buttons
  • Elastic (black and white)
  • Spare shoelaces
  • Heel grips / shoe tape
  • Shoe rosin
  • Hair ties

If you have surplus of any of these items and are happy to donate them for use in our College musical, we would be most grateful. Please arrange for students to bring any donated items to the Library circulation desk.
