A key experience for Drama students at Concordia College is a connection to industry. This term, Year 9 and Year 12 Drama students worked with theatre director Katie Cawthorne as she undertook two very different workshops to develop their theatre-making skills.
The Year 9 class explored their physicality and were challenged to move in new and sometimes unexpected ways with highly effective results. This class is to be commended on their vulnerability and their maturity as they significantly changed their thinking when it comes to physical theatre and building their first performance assessment.
The Year 12 class worked with Katie to develop their vision statements as they imagine the world of Andrew Bovell's When the Rain Stops Falling. Their lateral thinking and deep insight to the text was leveraged as they generated intellectual, nuanced and thought-provoking ideas to develop their hypothetical interpretation of the work in their first task of the year.
Both classes will now view Windmill Theatre's Mama Does Derby to be inspired once again! We thank Katie for her delightful workshops and for sharing her expertise.
