Multicultural Youth Arts Showcase

St John’s Campus was invited to participate in the Multicultural Youth Arts Showcase for the Adelaide Fringe that was held on Thursday 19 March at the Burnside Ballroom. The event was hosted by the International Art and Culture Communication Association Inc. and co-organised by the Tong De Association. As a non-profit community arts initiative, the event used youth artwork as a medium to showcase the creativity and cultural diversity of South Australia’s younger generation. More importantly, it aimed to build a bridge for cross-cultural exchange, bringing together people from different cultural backgrounds and fostering connection through art.

One of the most meaningful highlights of the event was a collaborative artwork created by young artists and distinguished guests around the theme of a 'horse'. Coinciding with the Chinese Year of the Horse, participants from diverse cultural backgrounds expressed their emotions and artistic language through unique colours and shapes. Each stroke reflected individual perspectives, ultimately merging into a vibrant and dynamic collective artwork.
The background incorporated the iconic floral motif of the Adelaide Fringe, symbolising  cultural integration beyond boundaries, and mutual inclusiveness—perfectly echoing the theme of multicultural artistic exchange.

Some artworks from the ELC and Year 1 STEM classes were selected to be shown. A number of children attended the event with their families to see their artworks on display and there was an award for 'The Audience Choice', which was presented to one of our ELC children by the Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China in Adelaide, Mr Li Dong.
