Wow, what a season for our Year 7 basketball squads! To back up our SAPSASA State Championship title, our Wednesday night Concordia Blue team won gold last night in the Division 1 Year 6/7 Competition. Congratulations to the team and also the Gold team who finished sixth. James 12HRO and James 12NFLE have been very impressive as the team's coaches and deserve the rewards of double Gold for 2017.
Year 7/SAPSASA Sports Coordinator
On Thursday 10 August, the Year 7 boys began their SAPSASA Basketball campaign. They had remarkable success throughout the day winning six games straight, mostly by sizable margins. The team showed great spirits, growing with confidence in every game. They faced one more team in a crossover playoff to lock in their place in September. In the end, they were run out winners by over 10 points.
On Thursday 21 September, the boys came together for one more day of finals matches. Setting their sights on gold, they proved they were the team to beat, winning their first three games by 10 to 20 points. They then came up against a very tough PAC team. The boys managed to hold their nerve and play classic Concordia team basketball, winning by nine points. The next three games again saw Concordia working on their structures and teamwork, winning each game comfortably. This set up a final against an undefeated Norwood Primary School. Both teams had excellent talent, but it was Concordia who jumped out to an early 9-1 lead. With two of Concordia’s players getting fouled out with five minutes to go, they would have to continue playing with the high intensity they have shown all season. With less than 20 seconds to go, Concordia managed to hold onto the ball, and their two point lead, and eventually won by 3 points!
Concordia brings home the gold!

A big thank you to all the parents who came out and supported, the atmosphere was amazing. Once again, congratulations to the boys. They played every game with their hearts on their sleeves. They represented themselves and Concordia extremely well. A bright future for Concordia basketball!
Congratulations to the 50 girls who represented Concordia at the recent IGSSA Athletics Carnival. A number of the girls took the opportunity to train with the high level coaches on offer at the after school trainings in the lead up to the carnival. There were a number of excellent performances on the day, but special mention must go to Tara E 10SKL who was selected to run in the Open Championship 100m, Emma W 11MBR in the U16 shot put, missing the record by 1cm and Hannah P 9SBR for her throw of over 32 meters in the javelin. Concordia finished a fantastic second in the field events and fourth overall in a strong field of competitors.
