At the end of Week 9 the school Pedal Prix team competed in the 24-hour Pedal Prix race at Murray Bridge. Our five teams competed with over 220 teams from around Australia. The 68 students involved from across Years 7 -12 have been training for many months in preparation for this event. Each team has been aiming to finish in the top 10 of their respective categories.
Families camped over the weekend in what was perfect weather for racing. Teams kept all our bikes circulating for the duration of the event, however the race wasn’t without its incidents, with all teams experiencing some heavy damage to their trikes that required attention during the event. Harmony our senior team, was looking to finish in a podium third position, however heavy damage in the early morning meant lots of time off the track. Highlights for the weekend included two of our teams finishing in the top eight of their respective categories and seeing teams work together to complete some of our quickest changeovers for the year.
A huge thank you to the parents who assisted in a range of roles to make this race event so successful. Thank you also to our staff, Jason Kupke, Amy Martin, Laura Simmons, Jennie Finch and Marjorie Ridenour, for supervising students over the weekend and throughout the season.
