On Wednesday, 11 September, St John’s Campus hosted around 100 Year 7 Concordia Campus German students for our inaugural cross-campus interactive German activity. The Year 7 students worked with all Year 4 and 5 students to individually teach them some important German grammar through the resource of Mini Books. Each Year 7 student was allocated one to two students and spent the afternoon peer teaching with much of the instruction time also conducted in German.
The Year 7 students had spent several weeks in class creating and compiling their own personalised Mini Book to share with our students, and also had the opportunity to create their own Mini Book with a Year 7 student.
The Red Shed was buzzing with rich learning, engagement and enthusiasm. By all accounts students from both campuses gained so much from this wonderful opportunity.
We look forward to continuing this as a tradition and as an innovative opportunity for cross-campus learning.

Year 6 Exhibition
This week our Year 6 students presented their Exhibition journey to their parents and the wider school community. This special event celebrates their learning journey over the course of this term. The students spoke with confidence about their passion and displayed pride in their Exhibits.
The Exhibition is a culmination of the students’ experiences in the Primary Years Programme and combines the essential elements of the PYP; knowledge, concepts, skills, attitudes and action.
The central idea that was the focus of this unit of inquiry was ‘Our unique understanding of global issues can be expressed to inform our community and inspire action’. Students were involved in advocating for a global issue that they were personally connected to and passionate about through creative communication and art forms. This year’s focus for global issues was inspired by the UN Global Goals. These Global Goals gave students a relevant context for their inquiries.
The parents and families of the Year 6 students were presented with a thought-provoking and emotion-filled presentation urging us to #dosomething, exhibits that presented a range of creative and provocative art installations as well as engaging and interactive displays.
With the support of mentors, guest presenters and experts, the students have been guided through their personal inquiries, collaborating to effectively communicate their message.
Through the Exhibition, the Year 6 students demonstrated the attributes of the Learner Profile and developed the essential skills needed now and beyond the classroom.

Please note that we have recently received the 2019 NAPLAN results for students in Years 3, 5, 7 & 9 from ACARA. These results are normally received in schools much earlier than this, but due to some delays ACARA’s distribution has been later this year.
We will be distributing these results for parents to view tomorrow.
NAPLAN results provide us with helpful information about student achievement levels that we use in conjunction with a range of other assessment data to help us determine student progress and more importantly how we can best support students in their learning going forward.
