St John’s Campus SRC and Year 6 Student Leader Installation
On Friday 5 February, the Year 6 Student Leaders and Semester 1 Student Representative Council were installed into their leadership roles. These students will collaborate together weekly to share and discuss their ideas for how we can strengthen and make improvements at St John’s Campus. They will be inquirers (investigating their ideas further), communicators (speaking to their peers and relevant experts) and risk-takers (putting their ideas into action). We look forward to watching what these young leaders achieve throughout Semester 1.

This week (Week 4), the Year 2 classes began their Unit of Inquiry exploring How The World Works by investigating how forces are used in the games we play and activities we do. They explored a variety of games and construction materials and asked themselves the questions, ‘How does this work?’ and ‘What forces are being used?’. They have been talking about push and pull and trying to identify which forces are being used around them.
They had a lot of fun exploring and are looking forward to some more experiments and investigations to learn more about forces and design technologies.

The children in the ELC have been learning about and celebrating Chinese New Year. Colours of red and gold have been used in a number of learning experiences. The children have been dressing in traditional clothing, making lanterns, lucky envelopes and dragon masks. We have learnt to say hello and how to count in Mandarin, which was taught by some of the children in the Early Learning Centre. Gong Xi Fa Cai!
