Knockout Basketball

Year 8 and 9 Knockout Basketball

On Thursday, 15 October, the Concordia Year 8 and 9 girls Knockout team played our first game for the year. It was a tight game against Cabra College. Overall the girls played extremely well as a team and although it was a tough game we came out with the win. This put us through to the next round at Cornerstone College. After winning an easy game against Cornerstone, Concordia was in the finals day! This was the first time in Concordia history that the girls middle school KO team were in the finals. We played three games in total, winning against Heathfield in the first game. It was a competitive and close game which we kept pushing through to get the win. We then played Tenison Woods and lost by a few points. It was a tough game with the scoreboard changing every minute. For the semi-finals, the top team of each pool played the second team in the opposite pool. This meant we had to play against Henley, and lost by a considerable margin. It was an extremely difficult game, but despite that, we tried our best in every situation. We finished in the top four best teams in the state which was an amazing achievement. As a team, we would like to thank Emma Whyte, Erin Blake and Mr Nicola for being outstanding coaches. We can’t thank you enough for all the time and effort you put into coaching. Your support was really appreciated.
