At the final Pedal Prix event of the year, the 24-hour season finale race at Murray Bridge, Concordia’s five teams competed across three days of qualifying and racing in an outstanding weekend with many highlights.
With Year 12 student Lucas in our Costa trike achieving the 17th fastest lap time across the field of 170 teams and the third fastest in category S3, and Year 9 student Brody recording a top-three lap time in category S2, both boys were invited to compete in the top 12 schools shootout. In an amazing effort, Brodie finished with the fastest time the Middle School division, earning himself an award and a prize for the school.
During the 24 hours of racing, all of our teams worked hard to keep their trikes running smoothly, with limited time off the track. Outstanding results included the students in Concorde achieving one of our best results by a Middle School team at this event, finishing in fourth position, as well as a top-10 finish in category S3 for team Costa, which sealed third place overall for the series.
This year, Concordia’s long-serving Pedal Prix Coordinator, Mr Matthew Smart, was also recognised at the event for his dedicated service to the sport. Matthew was awarded the Andrew McLachlan Award (formally the Chairman's Award), ‘for the demonstration of outstanding commitment, dedication, teamwork and consistent display of the values, vision and mission of the Australian HPV Super Series and the Australian International Pedal Prix Incorporated.’ We congratulate Matthew on this award and thank him for enabling many students to enjoy Pedal Prix across the last 13 years.
