Supporting OzHarvest Through Sustainable Cooking

20 Nov 2025

Service is a key outworking of Concordia College's vision, mission, values and ethos, and Year 7 students recently had the opportunity to serve those in need by using their Food Design skills to produce pasta meals for OzHarvest.

Tasked with designing a sustainable food product suitable for donation to an OzHarvest food distribution supermarket, students were challenged to think through the environmental impacts of their ingredient selection and cooking processes. They explored the resource demands of popular proteins and experimented with making fresh pasta, before assembling pre-packaged pasta meals ready for donation.

OzHarvest were very grateful for the meals the students contributed, which were quickly placed in the hands of those who needed them through OzHarvest’s Hindmarsh food distribution centre—a wonderful example of how learning can empower students to contribute positively to the world around them and make a real difference in the lives of others.
