What started out as an offer to host a couple of Concordia students for a week or two has resulted in friendships as far afield as Canada and the United States.
Between 1963 and 1976, Old Concordian Jill Oster (nee Sander) and her husband, Glen, hosted 33 Concordia Boarders, children of American missionaries to Papua New Guinea. With three children of their own, there was never a dull day in the Oster household!
Jill and Glen have stayed in touch with the students they hosted, including visits to Canada and the United States.
In the end, we are like an extended family. We really feel that this experience has been a blessing, not just for us, but also for our families. Of course, these children are now all grown up and many of their children are in touch with our children and grandchildren on Facebook. It has been a wonderful thing.
