At the end of Week 9, our College Pedal Prix teams competed in the final race of the season at Murray Bridge. Our five school teams raced for 24 hours against 160 teams from around Australia, bringing lots of excitement and action across the weekend.
Qualifying began on Friday afternoon with teams recording their fastest laps to set grid positions for the start of the main race on Saturday at 12 noon. All teams began the race strongly until a string of mechanical issues and major rollovers required some emergency repairs in the pits throughout the race, hindering some of our on-track positioning and keeping our pit crew busy. However, all riders demonstrated excellent grit and determination, riding throughout the night and with limited sleep. Clean racing by all our teams after a major race stoppage at 12am led to some excellent results and positioning on the leaderboard. Students represented the College with such a wonderful attitude, and we are proud of their results.
Congratulations to Lucas in team Costa who achieved the second fastest lap of the race in Category S3. He missed out on the fastest lap by less than one second on the final lap of the race.
Congratulations to team Costa and team Shockwave, who finished 11th in their respective categories on the weekend. This confirmed their fifth placing in the overall series at the end of the season. These teams both performed outstandingly across the whole season in a very competitive pool of schools.
A huge thank you to all the parents and staff who assisted in a variety of ways across the weekend. It made for a great community feel and was a highlight of the weekend.
Preparation for season 2025 will soon be underway. Look out for communication on how you can get involved in 2025.
