Adelaide Eisteddfod Results
Jude (11DWHE) competed in two different categories at the Adelaide Eisteddfod for 2024. Back in May, Jude competed in Section S301 – 25 Years and under, Any Bowed String Instrument (Unaccompanied) Solo, and finished in second place. On Wednesday 21 August, Jude also competed in the Concerto Section, which is for people 27 years and under, on any solo instrument and orchestra. He was one of six finalists and finished off by winning this competition by playing three movements of Camille Saint-Saëns’ 3rd Violin Concerto.
Marco (10JROB) also competed in two different categories of the Adelaide Eisteddfod for 2024. On Saturday 24 August, in Section B506/B509 - 17 years and under Any Brass Instrument Solo, Marco was awarded first place by playing the first movement of Joseph Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto. Back in July, Marco also competed in Section RW939 – 25 Years and Under Wind and Brass Solo, finishing in third place.
Sean (9NSHR), competing in Section P225 – 18 Years and Under Classical Sonata (One Movement) Piano Solo, received an Honourable Mention.

Martin Butler receives Don Burrows Award
Recently, Martin Butler, Director of our String Ensemble, was presented with a Don Burrows Award from the Association of Heads of Music in Non-Government Schools (AHOMINGS), in recognition of long service for music tutors in independent schools.
We are very fortunate to have Martin working with our strings students and we congratulate him on receiving this award, which is certainly well deserved. You can read the citation for Martin's Award below.
